Avesh Khan Reflects on Victory Against Gujarat Titans
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 23: Following a significant victory against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Avesh Khan, a right-arm seamer for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), shared his optimism about concluding the season positively.
The match showcased impressive bowling performances from LSG's William O’Rourke and Akash Singh Maharaj, leading to a decisive 33-run win over GT at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Despite this setback, GT remains at the top of the IPL standings with 9 wins and 4 losses from 13 matches, accumulating 18 points. Conversely, LSG is positioned sixth, having secured 6 victories and suffered 7 defeats, totaling 12 points.
In the post-match press conference, Avesh Khan remarked, “Winning by 33 runs was a significant boost for our confidence. We faced a tough second half of the season with several losses, but this victory has rejuvenated us. We aim to carry this momentum into our next match and finish the season strong.”
Discussing his own performance, Avesh Khan noted that he took two wickets in his 3.5 overs, conceding 51 runs. He stated, “I always strive to bowl effectively according to my field placements. They played some good shots early on, which led to me over-bowling. In high-stakes games, the focus shifts away from the runs.”
He added, “I was aware of my responsibility to bowl three overs for the team, so I concentrated on that. If I had conceded 20 runs, it could have changed the match's outcome. I always aim to focus on what I can control.”
